On the 10th of December Finlands former president Martti Ahtisaari is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo City Hall, Norway.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2008 to Martti Ahtisaari for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts. These efforts have contributed to a more peaceful world and to "fraternity between nations" in Alfred Nobel's spirit.
Ahtisaari has been working for peaceful resolution of conflicts in Aceh (Indonesia), Kosovo, Namibia and East Timor.
Ahtisaari is also the founder of Crisis Management Initiative (CMI), an organisation that promotes and works for sustainable security, crisis management and conflict resolution.

The Nobel prize homepage, where the ceremony is sent live can be found here.
