praktik bibliotekThe Åland Islands Peace Institute offers a possibility to experience a dynamic and flexible internship during the spring semester of 2021.
We are looking for applicants interested in issues of peace, security, minorities and autonomy. Work assignments include participating in the arrangement of annual Kastelholm talks on peace and activities regarding the Åland Islands 100 years celebration. Assignments can also include assisting with research related tasks as well as tasks under the Åland Mediation Office if needed. We appreciate skills and experience in arranging events and in text production both in Swedish and English.

Suitable fields of study are social, legal or political sciences as well as IT, communication and information management. The main working languages at the Institute are Swedish and English. Knowledge of Finnish and other languages is a merit. To be eligible for an internship at the ÅIPI you should have completed at least one year of university studies. Priority will be given to applicants who not yet hold a Master’s degree. The internship period normally lasts 10 weeks, from February until April, but other time arrangements are also possible.
The internship is unpaid. In most cases it is possible to apply for a monthly internship grant from the Åland Labour Market and Student Service Authority (AMS). See the AMS guidelines in Swedish. Applicants are also encouraged to apply for funding from other external sources such as their university, foundations or other sponsoring programs.
Your internship application should include your CV and a short letter of motivation, stating why you are interested in an internship at the ÅIPI and what your skills and areas of interest are. Please also provide relevant information about your institution and/or sponsoring programme. In case you are currently writing your Bachelor’s- or Master’s thesis, please let us know, as there may be a possibility for you to continue working on your thesis during the internship.
Send your application by email to praktik[at]peace.ax no later than the 30th of October 2020.
