Research report on the effects of the girl and boy group method (English and Swedish 2011) Within the EU-financed project Challenging Gender Roles for Prevention of Trafficking the Ålands Islands Peace Institute and Latvian partner Resource Center for Women Marta initiated research that resultet in the report Effects of the girl and boy group method – A gender and social psychology perspective on gender equality youth work on Åland and in Latvia. the report is written by Golnar Bahar, Egita Gritane and Jenny Jonstoij. It has been published an English and Swedish within the report series Rapport från Ålands fredsinstitut/Report from the Åland Islands Peace Institute, and was also published separately in Latvian. Manual on the girl and boy group method (Swedish and Latvian 2011) Within the project Challenging Gender Roles for Prevention of Trafficking consultant Mia Hanström wrote a method book for girl and boy groups. The manual vas edited by Jenny jonstoij and Ulrika Navier and published in Swedish and Latvian in 2011 by the Ålands Island Peace Institute and Resource Center for Women Marta in Latvia. Manual on the girl group method (Russian 2010) International organization for migration (IOM) Vilnius office has in co-operation with the Åland Islands Peace Institute published a method manual on the girl group method. The manual "Girls, gender equality and democracy" is written by Mia Hanström and has been translated into Russian and modified according the experience of empowerment sessions with vulnerable girl groups in Kaliningrad Oblast. The manual was released and presented on June 10th 2010 in Kaliningrad. The manual (in Russian) can be downloaded here. |

Essay on girl group work in Lithuania (English 2009) Jone Sestakauskaite, student at the programme for European studies at Malmö University, has completed her Bachelor Thesis about the Girl Group activities at the center for women and children Nendre in Vilnius, Lithuania. Jone has investigated the effectiveness of the Girl Group method in terms of promoting gender equality and thus combating trafficking in human beings. She concludes that the Girl Group method is a successful strategy, leading to fewer girls being lured into trafficking. Group meetings serve as an alternative education environment increasing awareness of the underlying causes of trafficking. The author also gives recommendations for improvement of future Girl Group work. Her analysis is based on the interviews with Nendres personnel and Girl Group members as well as the project manager at the Åland Islands Peace Institute Justina Donielaite. Leaflet on work against sexual slavery (Swedish and English 2007) The leaflet United against sexual slavery introduces the reader to how and why the Nordic girl group and boy group method has been used as a tool for preventing trafficking and promoting gender equality in Lithuania.
