Within the framework of the ÅIPI:s special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations the ÅIPI cahirperson Barbro Sundback and Jenny Jonstoij, who has worked with gender issues at the ÅIPI, will participate in the 57th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York starting from the 4th of March.

In 2005, Barbro Sundback and Mia Hanstöm represented the ÅIPI in the 49th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. The ÅIPI then submitted a statement that can be found here.

This is how The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is introduced at the UN homepage: The Commission on the Status of Women (hereafter referred to as “CSW” or “the Commission”) is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is the principal global policy-making body dedicated exclusively to gender equality and advancement of women. Every year, representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment worldwide.”
