The Åland Islands Peace Institute wishes to disseminate its research results as well as the insights and experiences gained in its practical activities with the aim to increase awareness about peaceful solutions and to promote methods which can assist individuals in maintaining peaceful relationships in their everyday lives. The ÅIPI also strives to influence the development of society towards peace by expanding the discourse on how peace is created and maintained in our communities, locally, regionally and internationally. The ÅIPI is a politically and religiously independent foundation and takes no party-political positions. All published materials and statements are based on factual knowledge and balanced analysis.
The Peace Institute published the report series “Rapport från Ålands fredsinsitut – Report from the Åland Islands Peace Institute” as a research outlet for affiliated researchers, including staff, visiting scholars and interns, conducting qualitative research in the Institute’s areas of interest. The reports can be downloaded free of charge electronically and ordered in print for a fee of 10€ plus shipping. Should you wish to contribute to the report series please contact assistant editor Sarah Stephan at sarah(a)peace.ax.
In 2012, the Institute launched a new electronic series entitled ”Working Papers from the Åland Islands Peace Institute”. Working papers generally present short overviews on issues relevant to the Institute’s areas of interest, often in connection to ongoing projects. The series may include documentation and theorization based on the practical work of the Institute. The working papers can also present a forum for arguments and the work of junior writers.
In some cases research findings and methodological material is published in printed publications.
The Peace Institute regularly participates in larger research project where research results are published by other institutions, electronically and/or in print.
Through op-eds and blogs the ÅIPI wishes to inform and influence public debates on issues that fall within the core areas of the ÅIPI’s work.
