The aim is to acquire knowledge as to how minority languages can be strengthened in Europe and globally. The project runs from March 2010 until June 2012 under the guiding role of the University of Mainz and Professor <strong>Anneli Sarhimaa<\/strong>. Responsible for disseminating information and results is Professor <strong>Johanna Laakso<\/strong>at the University of Vienna. The \u00c5land Islands Peace Institute has role focuses on the legal and institutional dimension of the project. The first preliminary results have been published electronically within the publication series Working Papers in European Language Diversity ont eh webpage of the ELDIA project at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eldia-project.org.\">www.eldia-project.org.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Conference&nbsp;\u201cChanging Linguistic Landscapes \u2013 Languages Law and Multilingualism in Context\u201d took place at Alandica with the following keynote speakers:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr Fernand de Varennes<\/strong>, 2004 Linguapax Laureate; Academy Research Fellow, Erik Castr\u00e9n Institute for International Law, University of Helsinki; Senior Research Fellow at the Centre of Excellence in Global Governance Research, University of Helsinki, responsible for the media analysis within the ELDIA-project.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. Sia Spiliopoulou \u00c5kermark<\/strong>, lecturer in Public International Law, director of the \u00c5land Islands Peace Institute, member of the Council of Europe\u2019s Advisory Committee for National Minorities (2010 \u2013 2014);
