To mark this historic date, the Parliament of \u00c5land is organizing a seminar with the title Demilitarisation and neutralisation \u2013 a stabilising force for peace in the region. The seminar is stressing the status of \u00c5land as a living and since a long time ago established regime in the Baltic Sea region.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar begins with the opening words of the host, the Speaker of the \u00c5land Parliament <strong>Bert H\u00e4ggblom<\/strong>. We will then hear addresses from the President of the Republic of Finland <strong>Sauli Niinist\u00f6<\/strong>, the Minister for Foreign Affairs <strong>Pekka Haavisto<\/strong> and the Minister of Justice <strong>Anna-Maja Henriksson<\/strong>, who is responsible for \u00c5land issues within the Finnish Government.<br \/>\nSweden\u2019s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, <strong>Robert Rydberg<\/strong> will speak of the international lessons and we will hear also Director of the \u00c5land Islands Peace Institute, associate professor of international law S<strong>ia Spiliopoulou \u00c5kermark<\/strong> and Deputy Director <strong>\u00c5sa Gustafsson<\/strong>, researcher in international law at \u00c5bo Akademi University.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar gathers ambassadors accredited to Finland, the \u00c5land Parliament and Government and representatives of other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar is live-streamed at <strong>2 pm to appr. 3.30 pm<\/strong> on the \u00c5land Parliament\u2019s YouTube channel and can be followed via the link <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zllh3ukDMmc\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=zllh3ukDMmc<\/a>.
