The Åland Islands Peace Institute will focus more on research issues. The research will be closer connected to other activities of the Institute. In connection with this restructuring the Institute employs a new Director, Jur. Dr. Sia Spilopoulou Åkermark. Her own research focuses on international law, human rights, minorities, discrimination and multicultural education. Presently she is member of the Advisory Committee on the Framework Convention on National Minorities of the Council of Europe. She'll be employed at the Peace Institute from January 1, 2007.
