On the 16th of April the Director of The Åland Islands Peace Institute, Jur. Dr. Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark was invited to the European Free Alliance (EFA) General Assembly congress that was held at the Åland parliament, where she gave a speech on ‘Peace issues from the vantage point of a periphery of Europe’.
The meeting was hosted by the Ålandic political party Åland’s future, and the purpose of the meeting was to discuss such issues as democracy, self-determination and regional matters as well as to talk about Ålandic problems such as influence in European affairs and snuff consuming. The participants of the meeting represented over 30 parties from all over Europe.
