The Kastelholm Talks are recurring talks on the topic of peace, under the patronage of former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen. The talks are always held in association with Åland’s Demilitarization Day, the 30th March.
Because of changed conditions due to the prevailing pandemic, we are launching for the anniversary year 2021 a new hybrid concept for this year’s Kastelholm talks.
The hybrid concept combines digital and physical participation through a carefully planned event that ensures quality, follows current recommendations on social distancing and also has technical readiness for change due to the pandemic situation. This makes the Kastelholm Talks accessible to everyone, regardless of the listener’s or viewer’s geographical location.
Through the Kastelholm Talks, the Åland Islands Peace Institute seeks to highlight a peace perspective by identifying and discussing solutions and opportunities for peaceful coexistence. The Kastelholm Talks aims to contribute to public education and knowledge development by being a forum for dialogue, rather than debate.
