The Peace Institute works with volunteers within the European Voluntary Service, EVS. We are both a hosting and a sending organisation, which means we host youth from other countries here at the Åland Islands Peace Institute and send youth from Åland (Finland) as volunteers to other countries. Many choose to go rather far away but it is fully possible to be a volunteer in a neighbouring country as well. This is the reality for Ingrid Eriksson from Åland, who has chosen to do her volontary service in Stockholm, Sweden, where she is a volunteer at FNUF, the Youth League of the Swedish Norden Association.
