February 4-10, 2008, the Åland Islands Peace Institute arranges a training for young journalists from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Britain, Sweden and Åland. The training is focused on minority issues, freedom of speech, local media and democratic participation. Contributors are, among others, Gunnar Jansson (Council of Europe), Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark (Associate Professor, Director, the Åland Islands Peace Institute), Barbro Teir (Editor-in-Chief, Hufvudstadsbladet & Volt), Rhodri Williams (Research Fellow, the Åland Islands Peace Institute), Salla Nazarenko (Project Manager, IWPR), Robert Hårdh (Secretary General, the Swedish Helsinki Committee), and journalists, politicians and civil servants from the Åland Islands.
