Åland 100 i Fredrikshamn – Ahvenanmaa 100 Haminassa (Åland 100 in Hamina)

The summer event will be hosted by Pia-Maria Lehtola, who works as a television journalist in the cultural service of YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company. The presentation languages are Finnish and Swedish. The seminar will begin with a small-scale concert by the vocalist Maria Ylipää and the accordion artist Niko Kumpuvaara, with life in the archipelago having a focal role in the performance. Alfons Röblom, Minister of Development of Åland, will bring the message of the region of Åland to the seminar. Between the musical performances, Mats Löfström, Member of the Parliament of Åland, and Kimmo Kiljunen, Member of the Parliament of Finland and an expert on flags, will present issues such as the flag of Åland and the symbolism it involves. In the second part of the seminar, researcher Hanna Ojanen and Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark will go deeper into the significance of the special status of Åland on an international level and give some less known facts about Åland.
