On June 21, the exhibition ”The Aland Islands Solution – a precedent for successful international dispute settlement” opened in the League of Nations Museum, Palais de Nations, Geneva. The temporary exhibition is in place until December 31, 2011. The exhibition commemorates the 90th anniversary of the the League of Nations’ resolution in the Åland Islands dispute between Finland and Sweden. The exhibition, which contains material about the demilitarization, neutralization and autonomy of Åland, shows the developments that led to a solution in the Åland dispute, and draws attention to the Åland example as a way of solving international conflicts. The exhibition is made possible through a cooperation between the United Nations Office in Geneva, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the National Archives of Finland and the Åland Government.
