At its Board meeting on 23th January, the Åland Islands Peace Institute’s Board of Directors appointed Roger Jansson as the Institute’s third senior adviser.
The ÅIPI appoints individuals in its network as senior advisers based on their knowledge, experience and capacity to assist the Peace Institute’s employees, research council and Board with advice. The senior advisers can participate in the Institute’s international work on peace and conflict issues, in particular to disseminate knowledge about the Åland example, as well as to represent the Peace Institute in different contexts.
Roger Jansson, who during his political career has been Member of the Parliament of Finland, Speaker of the Parliament of Åland and Head of the Åland Government, has been a member of the ÅIPI’s Board of Directors for 10 years, leaving the Board in 2017. As a member of the board of directors he has generously contributed with his knowledge of Åland’s special international status, especially in the field of demilitarization. He has also been providing important assistance in financial and property matters.
The Peace Institute has since before two senior advisors, Mr. Gunnar Jansson, former Member of the Parliament of Finland and Mr. Pertti Joenniemi, Peace Researcher. The ÅIPI also has an honorary chairman, Ms. Barbro Sundback, former Chairperson of the Board.
