On 27.5.2013 the ÅIPI held a seminar for a group of some 20 participants from regional Organizations in Africa about the Åland Example. The group came to Åland for a study visit arranged within the International Training Programme on Peace and Security in Africa (PASA). The course is financed by Swedish SIDA, and organized by the Institution for Peace and Conflict Research at Uppsala University, in co-operation with the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and the Swedish company Indevelop. The same course but with other participants, visited Åland also in 2012.
The Director of the ÅIPI Ass.Prof. Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark, researcher Sarah Stephan and information officer Susann Simolin presented experiences and lessons learned from the Åland Example and how those can be relevant for peace work both at an international and at a local level.
