On Wednesday 16th of January 2013 the ÅIPI had the honour of welcoming the Minister for European Affairs at the Swedish Government, Ms Birgitta Ohlsson to the Åland Islands Peace Institute. At her official visit on Åland the Minister met with representatives of the Åland Government and, invited by the General Consul of Sweden to Åland, inaugurated an exhibition commemorating Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg at the Åland museum.
At the Peace Institute the staff informed about the core activities of the institution. Among the topics discussed were the international relevance of the Åland Example, the role of peace issues within the EU and Nordic co-operation and violence prevention among youth throught Fair Sex workshops and international co-operation on the boy and girl group method.
