The Åland Islands Peace Institute has in 2021 collaborated with the Finnish Institute in International Affairs (FIIA) in a study of the position of the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands in Nordic cooperation. The report “The Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands in Nordic Cooperation” written by FIIA’s program director Katja Creutz and the Åland Peace Institute’s director Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark, was presented at a conference on the subject in Copenhagen on 8 December 2021.
The conference entitled “Cooperation between the Nordic states and Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland as an example of sustainable democracy” was organized by the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs in co-operation with the Government of Åland as part of the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2021. The conference can be seen here. The conference brought together representatives from all five Nordic states, from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland, as well as participants from all over the world and based in Copenhagen.
