The two days in Stockholm were extremely informative with, among others, presentations and discussions on topics such as child marriage, youth selling sex, young entrepreneurship and the new European youth policy. Among the lecturers were Per Nilsson, the director of the Swedish Youth Council, Doreen Månsson, actress and journalist, Petra Mårselius, Ministry for integration and equal opportunities, Nyamko Sabuni, minister for youth and equal opportunities, Erling Bjurström, professor at the University of Linköping and Pävi Honkatukia, National Research Institute on Legal Policy/Finland.
The Conference ended with a dinner in Stockholm’s most glamorous location, the town hall.
In 2009 the Swedish Youth Council celebrated its 50th anniversary, an occasion for looking back at youth policies sin the 1950s. While youth were seen as a problem 50 years ago, youth are seen as an asset today. Andreea finds this a positive core message of the conference and will share more about the seminars she participated in here shortly.
