Visual digital art as a peace building tool
Very warmly welcome to a lunchseminar that focuses on the question of how we could design and use digital technologies and digital art in order to support peace efforts. Lisa Glybchenko, a Ukrainian researcher from TAPRI (Tampere Peace Research Institute), social entrepreneur and initiative taker to the Color Up Peace-project, will guide us through these interesting topics. Visual peace technologies Visual images as security-building tools Digital and virtual reality peacebuilding Peace practices and research are becoming more and more tech-infused, not least because of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on these fields, and several armed conflicts around the world including Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine and its effects to everyday lives in Ukraine and beyond. That means, we should be better equipped with knowledge of peace technologies to better design and implement peace initiatives, even after the war has ended. The seminar will focus on visual peace technologies, also drawing on the role of visual arts in peacebuilding.
