We welcome Anders Lidén as new Senior Advisor
We are delighted to announce that Anders Lidén has been appointed Senior Advisor to the Åland Islands Peace Institute. Anders Lidén brings a distinguished background in diplomacy and international affairs. He has previously served as Ambassador and Director-General for Political Affairs at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, as well as Head of Sweden’s UN delegation in New York and Ambassador to countries including Finland and Israel. With academic studies in history and political science, Lidén has accumulated extensive expertise in Middle Eastern affairs, peace negotiations, and the workings of the UN Security Council. In 2023, he was appointed by the Swedish government as Chair of the Truth Commission for the Sami People. He has also served as a board member of the Åland Islands Peace Institute, where he has already contributed valuable insights and experience. “It is a great honor to serve as Senior Advisor to the Åland Islands Peace Institute. With my background in diplomacy and international politics, I hope to contribute to the Institute’s important work for peace, with a particular focus on promoting knowledge about autonomy and the rights of minorities,” says Anders Lidén.
