On the 20th of October last year, 100 years had passed since the signing of the 1921 Convention relating to the Non-fortification and neutralisation of the Åland Islands. The Åland parliament celebrated this centenary through an international seminar titled ’Demilitarisation and neutralisation– a stabilising force for peace in the region’.
