- “The conflict between Palestine and Israel is obviously complex and tragic. In the most recent Gaza war, Hamas as well as Israel have committed grave violations of international and humanitarian law and the plight of Palestinians in the entire region is immense. It is important not to loose sight of the fact that Gaza and Hamas is not the only issue and that old problems in the West Bank and East Jerusalem remain and are worsening, including as regards the proliferating settlements. It is therefore of importance to continue exploring avenues for solutions that respect the rights of all Palestinians as well as Israelis.”
