“We are very happy that Fredrikshamn contacted us and suggested a collaboration. The sea and the interest in the events a hundred years ago unite us “, says Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark, director of Åland Islands Peace Institute.
The seminar “Åland 100 in Fredrikshamn” will be held in Fredrikshamn’s Bastion 7.7.2021 at 12-14. “Everyone who is interested in good music and conversation is welcome to take part,” says Fredrikshamn’s city director Hannu Muhonen.
Between the music acts, we hear Åland’s Member of Parliament Mats Löfström and Member of Parliament and flag expert Kimmo Kiljunen, discuss, among other things, the Åland flag and its symbolism. In the second part of the seminar, researchers Hanna Ojanen and Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark discuss the international significance of Åland’s special status and other aspects of Åland.
