The purpose of the information activitites of the Åland Peace Institute is to increase the knowledge about the activities of the Åland Peace Institute and of the special international and constitutional status of Åland, and to offer information and analysis of current issues, inlcuding the international status of Åland and to create opportunities for peaceful conflict management.
The Peace Institute produces primarily the following types of information:
– On-going information about the activities of the Institute
– Debate articles, reports etc. that are based on the activities of the Institute
– Statements based on knowledge and balanced analysis
The Åland Peace Institute is a politically and religiously independent foundation. This means that the Peace Institute avoids making statements in politically controversial questions. The Peace Institute shall not make politically partisan statements.
The information activities also entail informing the public with respect to the international status of Åland and of the need to respect and value international law, human rights, equality and peaceful conflict resolution.
The Institute informs foreign visitors about the Åland Peace Institute and its activities and about the special status of Åland and also receives local study visits, for example from schools.
