This week music and peace work meets in Mariehamn on Åland. The Ålands Islands Peace Institute is happy to invite everyone interested to interesting, free of charge events Thursday and Friday. INTERACTIVE MULTILINGUAL PERFORMANCE: ORDLISTAN – GLOSSARY
Mariehamn City Library, Thursday August 9th, 18.30 hrs. Free entrance. Duration ca 45 mins.
The performance has been developed during the workshop ‘Voices for Peace’ organized by the Åland Islands Peace Institute. In cooperation with Welsh writer and performer Christine Watkins and with language and music input of Armenian, Azerbaijani, Swedish and Ålandic roots. A meeting of memories, languages and music.

LECTURE: THE ÅLAND EXAMPLE AND IT’S COMPONENTS
From the Åland Islands Peace Institute, Director Dr. Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark and researcher Sarah Stephan, LL.M. in international law, discuss the core components of the Åland Example, why the Åland Example has survived for so long, how it has evolved over time and how it has been used in international conflictresolution.

- LECTURE: IS ÅLAND AN EXAMPLE OF POSITIVE PEACE?
In this workshop Susann Simolin, Information Officer at the Åland Islands Peace Institute, shall discuss concepts such as “peace”, “empowerment” and “violence”, the links between them and their connections to the Åland Example. In particular, she will try to establish and highlight the link between the Åland Example and “peace”.

PEACE CONCERT
An experimental musical meeting between musicians from Armenia, Azerbaijan and the Åland Islands, presented in the form of a concert at the square stage in Mariehamn on the 10th of August, at 18.30.
The concert is free and open to everyone. In case of rain the concert will be held in the city Library.
