Kjell-Åke Nordquist

Kjell-Åke Nordquist

Professor of International Relations at University College Stockholm, with a focus on peacebuilding and human rights.

He has worked with autonomy and conflict resolution issues both as a researcher and practitioner. Internationally, Nordquist has worked with peace processes, primarily in Colombia, the Middle East and East Timor. He is the editor-in-chief of the institute’s scientific e-journal Journal of Autonomy and Security Studies, JASS.

In the years 2017-2021, he is working on the research project “Fragile cities in the global South: Social security, environmental vulnerability and representative justice”, which is led by the University of Helsinki. Kjell-Åke has been a member of the Peace Institute’s board and research council since its inception. He was t.f. director of the institute from April 2015 to February 2018.
