Heidi Öst new Mediation Officer/researcher
Heidi Öst is new in the position as head of the Mediation Office and researcher at the Åland Islands Peace Institute. Heidi is in charge of the statuary mediation service, which is free of charge and offered to parties in criminal cases and certain civil disputes.Heidi has got a masters degree in human rights from Åbo Akademi and a bachelors degree in global politics from Keele University in England. Seminar on identity and attitudes towards immigration
About 40 people came to the city library in Mariehamn, Åland, on the evening of the 8th of September 2009 to listen to researcher Bogdan State presenting his report “Strangers by degrees: Attitudes toward Immigrants in the Åland islands”.Local media, as well as the Swedish-speaking newspaper Huvudstadsbladet in Helsinki, have reported on the report and its results.
