Travel to and from Åland
From Sweden By flight Departures with Air Åland from Stockholm-Arlanda airport to Mariehamn twice a day on weekdays, either at 9.10 or 19.30. The flight time is about half an hour. Visit Air Ålands website for booking: http://www.airaland.com/?iPage=1&iLan=3. When arriving to Mariehamn airport the easiest way to get to Mariehamn is by taxi which takes about 5-10 minutes. By ferry If you plan to go to Åland during the weekend the only way is to go by ferry, either from Stockholm or Kapellskär depending on which ferry line you decide to go with. Note that if you decide to go to with the ferry from Långnäs you have to count with a approx. 2 hour bus ride from Stockholm City Station but the ferry lasts for 2,5 hours, while on contrary the ferry from Stockholm lasts for about 4 to 6 hours depending on departure but the bus ride is only 15 minutes. Speaker of Parliament new member of the ÅIPI board of directors
A new board member has been elected to the Board of Directors of the ÅIPI, namely the Speaker of the Åland Parliament Mr Roger Nordlund. The former Swedish consul general on Åland, Mr Bertil Jobéus, did not put his name forward for re-election and was thanked for his efforts. At the yearly meeting on the 19 April a new member of the Research Council of the ÅIPI was elected, Mr Mikael Wigell, Researcher at the Global Security research programme at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs.
