Facts for good decisions - lunch seminar September 14th. KUT-network.

Facts for a good decision – where environment and economy meet

Before the International Day of Democracy, the KUT network invites you to a new lunch seminar on September 14th, in the seminar series “Facts for good decisions”.

How do you deal with conflicting objectives between different areas of society? How can you find intersections where different societal interests can work together to drive development in a sustainable direction? Is growth needed to finance sustainable transition? What is the role of the EU? How can you reach decision-makers with serious messages? These and other questions will be discussed during the lunch seminar.

The panel consists of:

Siv Sandberg, lecturer and researcher in public administration at Åbo Akademi University. She is an expert on Nordic public administration, in particular the development and future prospects of municipalities. She has worked several times as an investigator on the division of municipalities in Åland.

Bengt Kriström, Professor of Natural Resource Economics (1994-), SLU-Umeå, Associate Professor of Economics, HHS, Stockholm, Senior Advisor CERE (Environmental Economics Center in Umeå). Research: socio-economic aspects of the use of environmental and natural resources.

Tony Cederberg, marine biologist and assistant professor at Åbo Akademi University’s Husö Biological Research Station.

The seminar is organized in cooperation with the Central Baltic Programme and is free of charge. Pre-register no later than 12.9 – you can find the registration form below. It is possible to buy lunch in the restaurant. Since there may be queues, please arrive in good time.

Please note that the seminar (and the registration form) is in Swedish.

A warm welcome!

Where? Kaptenssalen, Hotel Arkipelag, Strandgatan 35

When? 14.9, 11.30 – 13.00

The KUT-network was initiated in 2018 by the Åland Islands Peace Institute, ÅSUB, the University of Åland and the Åland Maritime Museum. Today, the Government of Åland, the pilot function in the bärkraft.ax network and the Central Library of Åland are also part of KUT. The network aims to create interest and understanding in society about facts, knowledge and research and to promote the position of research in Åland.

This is the second seminar in the KUT network’s lunch seminar series “Facts for good decisions”, where the first was held in February 2023 with philosopher and historian Jonas Ahlskog from Åbo Akademi, with the theme facts in political decision-making.
