Next year’s Kastelholm Talks on Peace will be on the 27 of March 2025.
The Kastelholm Talks are recurring talks on the topic of peace, under the patronage of former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen. The talks are always held in association with Åland’s Demilitarization Day, the 30th March.
Through the Kastelholm Talks, the Åland Islands Peace Institute seeks to highlight a peace perspective by identifying and discussing solutions and opportunities for peaceful coexistence.
This year´s theme is:
“Diplomacy in our time – spaces, places and faces”.
Where, when and how does diplomacy take place today and what are the conditions and openings for diplomacy to help resolve difficult situations? The discussion is being held against the backdrop of a deteriorating security situation in our world, the fact that political discourse seems to be increasingly polarized and that cooperation within and the conditions for many international organizations – not least the OSCE, which this year celebrates 50 years – are shaking.
